Tiago Saarq MArch from FAUP, Porto and MBArch from IE School, Madrid, founded sastudio in 2018, an award-winning creative studio that operates at the intersection of the architecture realm with social entrepreneurship. With sastudio, has won the competition for the Gardabaer kindergarten that has recently opened doors, and was also the winner for the new Leidarhofdi community Center, currently in development. His proposals for the Snorraborg Kindergarten and the Akranes Sustainable city have been purchased by the respective Municipalities in open international competitions. Was finalist with Honour mention in the Prague's new Smichov school, and recipient of jury mention with the proposal for the Husavik Senior Center in Hofn. Has been awarded in the WAN Awards, and winner of the World Architecture Awards. Paralelly has been involved in initiatives dedicated to working with NGO's, for public interest design and social impact architecture. Prior to founding his practice, has worked at BIG| Bjarke Ingels Group, in between the New York and Copenhagen offices. Has led the teams for housing projects in Toronto and Zurich, the winning project for a station, bridge and public space in Paris, 'Gare Pont de Bondy'; and for the concept design of the recently awarded best world restaurant, 'Noma' in Copenhagen. Has worked as well at Kengo Kuma Paris, in cultural, educational and infrastructure projects, where was project leader for the winning design for the urban regenerator project for another upcoming station 'Gare Saint-Denis Pleyel' in Paris.
