Ian Brewster

Ian Brewster is the Principal and Design Director of Brewster Hjorth Architects, based in Surry Hills, Sydney Australia. Ian has been involved in the design of complex Public Buildings in Austarlia and New Zealand over the last 25 years. After graduating from UNSW with the University Medal Ian worked in some large Sydney based firms before helping establish Jones Brewster Regan Architects in 1986 with friends. The Practice soon grew to employ over 50 Architects working on Commercial Architectural projects. In 1997 Ian founded Brewster Hjorth Architects with Andrew Hjorth to focus on the design of Public Architecture. Over the last 2 decades Ian has lead BHA in the design of highly successful public buildings, including Libraries, Teaching and Research buildings for schools and Universities, Theatres, and Sports Centres. Many of these projects which have won state, national and international awards and commendations. Ian has acted as a juror for State and International design awards Ian is a Greenstar trained Professional, he strives to incorporate ESD principles in all his buildings His current projects include large Aquatic Centres, Indoor Sports Centres, a new football stadium, Civic Libraries, Theatres and a large Recital Hall.
