Tus-Design Building
This project covers a total building area of approximately 78,000 square meters, with 23 floors above ground and 3 floors below ground. The building's maximum height is about 118 meters. Between the 3-story podium on the south side and the tower on the north side is a zigzag-shaped inner courtyard that extends down to the first basement level. This spacious courtyard provides ample natural light and ventilation to the central part of the building. On the ground floor, the courtyard naturally separates the south-facing commercial area from the north-facing tower's office area, preventing the mingling of different functional zones. The architectural design is inspired by the garden courtyard spaces of traditional Suzhou residences. The designer vertically extends the horizontal courtyard layout, creating a unique "seven-layer vertical courtyard." These seven courtyard units are stacked vertically, with each layer featuring a shared atrium garden facing the central river landscape. Between each courtyard unit is a "ring corridor" layer, incorporating the adaptive and winding corridor elements of Suzhou gardens into the high-rise building. By rotating the building's four corners by 9 degrees, the original quadrilateral plan transforms into a shape with twelve rich boundaries. During the stacking of the tower units, each adjacent unit is mirrored, creating a staggered effect. When viewed from the bottom up, the staggered blocks resemble the tiered gable walls of Suzhou’s traditional streets and alleys, forming a unique "neighborhood." This design evokes the street views of Jiangnan, making one feel immersed in the picturesque scenery of the region. The interior public areas employ Suzhou garden design techniques. The main lobby features garden elements such as Taihu stones, ponds, and pavilions. The vertical staircase is integrated with the curved bridge shape of the garden, forming a three-dimensional zigzag structure suspended above the pool. The north side's ultra-narrow steel frame glass curtain wall system minimizes the building's boundary, allowing people to appreciate the beauty of both indoor and outdoor environments as they ascend. In the atrium, the designer use hanging greenery, wooden lattice pavilions, and carpets mimicking mossy paths, creating an outdoor garden feel within the indoor space. The rooftop landscaped basketball court, surrounded by greenery on the podium, is a favorite outdoor sports venue for employees. The north wall of the court features dual-glass photovoltaic panels in dark and light green, generating electricity to power the court’s night lighting. The light conduits, designed in harmony with the surrounding landscape, provide daylight illumination for the interior during the day and reflect indoor light at night, becoming landscape lights for the rooftop garden. These bi-directional reflective light conduits ensure optimal utilization of light. Thanks to the application of various green energy-saving technologies, the Tus-Design Building has earned LEED Gold certifications and certified with the highest level of "Three-Star Operation Label" in both the "Green Building Evaluation Standards" and the "Healthy Building Evaluation Standards".
