Las Nubes

Flow81 Architecture Lab SLP

The project focuses on maintaining the natural landscape while ensuring privacy and preserving stunning views of the valley. To achieve this, we proposed a design that partially buries the house into the mountainside, while allowing the rest of it to "float" above the surrounding nature. This approach ensures the house remains concealed from the outside world, seamlessly blending with the environment and allowing the existing pine trees to thrive without disruption.

The entrance to the house is subtly hidden from the street, partially embedded in the mountain to enhance privacy. On the opposite side, the structure is elevated, hovering above the valley and blending harmoniously with the natural surroundings. This design minimizes the impact on the land, with foundations only placed in the buried section of the house, leaving the rest of the structure untouched and suspended over the terrain.

One of the project's key principles is avoiding any invasion of the environment. By limiting the foundation and ensuring the house "floats," we maintain the integrity of the landscape and show maximum respect for the native nature. The house is thoughtfully designed to be in harmony with its location, using natural elements like water and vegetation to divide the space and create a unified whole. The structure's cantilevered sections are strategically placed to avoid blocking sunlight, allowing the natural light to flow through and illuminate the interior without obstruction.

This design embodies a vision of architectural innovation that seeks to coexist with nature rather than disrupt it, ensuring that the home is both a part of and a respectful observer of the stunning landscape around it.
