INC Architecture & Design
INC's latest addition to the New York City skyline is a condo rental building that stands out with its grand gesture and exquisitely detailed features. The structure's powerful profile was crafted with meticulous attention to materials, details, and proportions, creating a softly modern yet classically iconic form. Broadway, New York City's oldest north-south thoroughfare, served as a key inspiration. Originally the Wickquasgeck trail, Broadway's diagonal path across the island has given rise to remarkable triangular and trapezoidal buildings, the most famous being the Flatiron Building. At 1 W 60th St, architectural and interior detailing soften the building's sharp corners. Hand-laid bricks in algorithmic rotation form the building's base, with materials chosen for their soft tactility and depth. The facade features wire-cut, warm charcoal-colored Norman bricks with a velvet finish and weathered mortar joints, adding to the building's unique character. Inside, the warm and inviting atmosphere is enhanced by cerused white oak, raw linen, silver pewter metals, satin concrete plaster, lush wool mohair, and low-luster concrete floors. Each element was selected to create a cohesive and welcoming environment, embodying a modern yet timeless elegance.
